Devils Tower National Monument — Bear Lodge Butte rising above the Wyoming prairie

America's first monument, and her most beloved peaks.

Three nights in the shadow of Devils Tower — Theodore Roosevelt's first national monument, the 867-foot stone monolith rising from the Belle Fourche River valley — and a private round at Wyoming's most spectacular hidden course, threaded through ponderosa pines with Tower views from eight holes.

Then west across the state to Jackson Hole, four nights at The Sylvan Lodge inside the Snake River Sporting Club: the Tom Weiskopf course Weiskopf himself called his favourite, and seven private miles of the Snake River for fly fishing, with Grand Teton National Park twenty minutes north.

  • 3 nights at The Golf Club at Devils Tower (on-property cabins) · 4 nights at The Sylvan Lodge
  • Two iconic rounds — Devils Tower and Snake River Sporting Club
  • Devils Tower National Monument summer hike · Belle Fourche River canyon
  • Grand Teton National Park day with Jenny Lake & Cascade Canyon
  • Scenic Snake River float · private fly fishing on seven club-owned miles

One state. Two horizons.

The Black Hills of the east, where prairie ponderosa frame the country's first national monument. The Tetons of the west, where granite spires rise seven thousand feet from the valley floor. Two private golf clubs, one summer week, the whole sweep of Wyoming in between.

Eight Days in Wyoming

Three nights east at the Tower, four nights west in Jackson Hole — two rounds, two parks, one summer.

Day01

Arrival · Rapid City to Hulett

Into the Black Hills

Fly into Rapid City Regional (RAP) with a private transfer northwest into Wyoming — ninety minutes through pine forest and ranch country to Hulett. Settle into your cabin at The Golf Club at Devils Tower, cocktails at the 77 Steakhouse & Saloon, and dinner under the cottonwoods as the Tower glows pink at sunset eight miles away.

Day02

Round One · The Golf Club at Devils Tower

A Round With the Monument

The marquee round of the east. Richard Phelps' 18-hole private layout — voted #3 private course in Wyoming — winding through ponderosa woodlands and skirting the high canyon wall above the Belle Fourche River. The Tower itself looms over eight holes, including a par-3 played across a hundred-foot canyon. Lunch at the clubhouse, an afternoon at the on-property skeet range, dinner at 77 Steakhouse.

Day03

Devils Tower National Monument

The First National Monument

A morning at the monument itself — President Roosevelt's 1906 first-of-its-kind designation. Walk the 1.3-mile Tower Trail Loop at the base of the monolith, stopping at the Circle of Sacred Smoke sculpture. After lunch, the Joyner Ridge Trail through wildflower meadows for unobstructed western views, or a Belle Fourche River walk past prairie dog towns. Return to the lodge for a Black Hills evening.

Day04

Hulett to Jackson Hole

Across Wyoming

A travel day. Private transfer to Gillette or Rapid City for the short flight to Jackson Hole (JAC), or — for those preferring direct — a chartered turboprop from Hulett's on-property tarmac. By late afternoon, you arrive at The Sylvan Lodge inside the Snake River Sporting Club, twenty miles south of Jackson. Welcome cocktails at the Dark Sky Bar; dinner at the River Room overlooking the Snake.

Day05

Grand Teton National Park

Jenny Lake & Cascade Canyon

North into the park with a private guide. Morning shuttle boat across Jenny Lake — formed by Pleistocene glaciers — to the Cascade Canyon trailhead, with Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point just above. Lunch at the historic Jenny Lake Lodge, an afternoon at Schwabacher Landing for the Ansel Adams Snake River vista, and back to the Sylvan Lodge for the spa and a soak in your private rooftop hot tub.

Round Two · Snake River Sporting Club

Weiskopf's Favourite Course

The marquee round of the west. Tom Weiskopf's 7,500-yard masterpiece — ranked Wyoming's #2 in Golf Digest's Best in State for seven years running, and the course Weiskopf himself once called his favourite. The front nine winds through Teton pines and aspens above the river; the open back nine plays toward the Snake. The signature par-3 15th plays to a near-island green framed by native grasses against the river. Lunch on the clubhouse deck, dinner at Engelmann's Bistro.

River Day · Snake River

Float & Cast

A choose-your-own river day. Option A: a guided scenic float trip from Deadmans Bar down to Moose, with the Tetons rising on your right and bald eagles overhead. Option B: a half-day fly fishing the club's seven private miles of the Snake — cutthroat, brown, and rainbow trout, with the property's master guides. A wine and cheese trail ride at the Equestrian Center for non-anglers. Dinner under the Wyoming sky at the Dark Sky Bar.
