Two Oregons,
one golf odyssey
Central Oregon enjoys some 300 days of sun a year over a high-desert landscape of juniper forest, lava rock and snow-capped Cascade peaks — and it has quietly become one of the great golf regions of the American West. This journey pairs the polished resort golf of Bend with something altogether wilder, three hours east, on a 150,000-acre cattle-and-goat ranch.
From your base at Pronghorn — now Juniper Preserve — you play the two championship courses on the property and David McLay Kidd's celebrated Tetherow, before crossing into the frontier to play Silvies Valley Ranch: a reversible 18 that becomes two distinct courses, and a goat-caddie short course unlike anywhere else in golf.
- Three nights at Pronghorn / Juniper Preserve, Bend's high-desert resort
- The Jack Nicklaus & Tom Fazio courses at Pronghorn Club
- Tetherow — David McLay Kidd's No. 57 U.S. public course
- Silvies' reversible Craddock & Hankins championship courses
- McVeigh's Gauntlet — played with the world-famous goat caddies
- Private transfers throughout and a dedicated Mosaico concierge
Polished high desert,
then the open frontier
Bend is golf at its most refined — manicured fairways winding through juniper and lava beneath the Three Sisters, fine dining and a spa to come home to. Silvies is its untamed cousin: a working ranch where you tee off into rolling sagebrush hills, a goat carries your clubs up McVeigh's Gauntlet, and the nearest town is a long way off. One trip, two unforgettable expressions of Oregon golf.
Your Detailed Mosaic
Seven days, six rounds — three at Bend's resort courses, three across the frontier links of Silvies Valley Ranch.
Bend, Central Oregon
Arrival — Welcome to the High Desert
Fly into Redmond (RDM), where your Mosaico concierge meets you for the short private transfer to Pronghorn at Juniper Preserve, your home for the next three nights amid 640 acres of ancient juniper forest. Settle into your suite, warm up on the practice facility, and gather this evening for a welcome dinner as the Cascades turn pink at dusk.
Pronghorn Club, Bend
Round 1 — The Nicklaus Course
A fitting opener: the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, ranked No. 8 in Oregon by Golf Digest and a multiple host of U.S. Open qualifying. It wanders through high-desert juniper with lava formations, false fronts and quick, contoured greens — spectacular risk-and-reward golf framed by the snow-capped peaks to the west. The evening is yours to relax at the Juniper Spa or dine on property.
Pronghorn Club, Bend
Round 2 — The Fazio Course & Bend
The companion to the Nicklaus is Tom Fazio's Championship Course — a minimalist design of immaculate conditioning where the natural high desert feels barely touched. With a morning tee time, the afternoon is free to explore Bend itself: the Old Mill District along the Deschutes River, a paddle or a stroll, and the city's celebrated craft-brewery scene.
Tetherow → Silvies Valley Ranch
Round 3 — Tetherow, then East to the Ranch
A morning round at Tetherow — David McLay Kidd's all-fescue, links-style masterpiece on Bend's west side, ranked No. 57 among America's public courses and routed beneath Broken Top and the Three Sisters. Firm, fast and gloriously strategic. After golf, a scenic private transfer roughly three hours east into the frontier, arriving at The Retreat at Silvies Valley Ranch for a gourmet ranch dinner.
Silvies Valley Ranch, Seneca
Rounds 4 & 5 — Craddock & the Gauntlet
Morning on the Craddock Course, the clockwise routing of Silvies' ingenious reversible 18 — wide fairways climbing through sagebrush to large, rolling greens, ranked Oregon's 13th best. In the afternoon, the trip's signature experience: McVeigh's Gauntlet, a thrilling seven-hole ridge course named Golf Magazine's Best New Golf Experience — played, of course, with the ranch's world-famous goat caddies.
Silvies Valley Ranch, Seneca
Round 6 — The Hankins Course
The final round reverses the field: Hankins runs anti-clockwise over much of the same ground as Craddock, yet plays as a wholly different course — a brilliant throwback to the origins of the game at St Andrews. Afterward, unwind at the 17,000-square-foot Rocking Heart Spa, the largest in the Pacific Northwest, before a celebratory farewell dinner.
