Bay of Islands
& Hawke's Bay
Two Iconic Rounds · 7 Days · North Island, New Zealand
Mosaico Travels
Curated Luxury · Exceptional DestinationsFrom the cliffs of Northland to the gravels of Hawke's Bay.
Two of the world's most spectacular cliff-edge golf courses. Two Rosewood lodges set on six-thousand-acre working farms. Two distinct corners of New Zealand's North Island — the sub-tropical Bay of Islands and the sun-drenched wine country of Hawke's Bay — connected by a short domestic flight and a single thread of luxury.
Three nights at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs above the Pacific. A round at David Harman's clifftop course. A day among the 144 islands of the bay. Then south to Rosewood Cape Kidnappers — three nights, a round on Tom Doak's modern marvel, and a day exploring the gannets, vineyards and Art Deco of Hawke's Bay.
- Three nights Rosewood Kauri Cliffs · Three nights Rosewood Cape Kidnappers
- Two iconic rounds — Kauri Cliffs (NZ #10) and Cape Kidnappers (World Top 100)
- Bay of Islands cruise to the Hole in the Rock & Cape Brett Lighthouse
- Cape Sanctuary wildlife tour & Gimblett Gravels wine country experience
- Daily inclusive dining at both lodges · Domestic flights & private transfers throughout
Two rounds. Two coasts.
Cliffs that drop two hundred feet to the Pacific. Fairways that taper to nothing but ocean. Two of the great modern golf courses, sister properties under the same Rosewood roof, six hundred miles apart on the same island.
Seven Days, Two Coasts
Arrive in Auckland, head north to Northland, fly south to Hawke's Bay. Two rounds, four full days to explore.
Arrival · Auckland to Kerikeri
North to the Cliffs
Touch down in Auckland and connect onto a short Air New Zealand flight to Kerikeri (Bay of Islands), where Rosewood's driver meets you for the thirty-five minute transfer to Matauri Bay. Settle into your Ocean View Junior Suite, walk to the lodge for pre-dinner aperitif and canapés, and dine in The Dining Room overlooking the Pacific.
Round One · Kauri Cliffs
Cypress Point of the South Pacific
A short ride to the first tee of David Harman's masterpiece. Fifteen of the eighteen holes view the Pacific; six play directly along the cliff edge. The signature 7th — a 220-yard par-3 across a 350-foot ravine to a green hung above the water — is the hole you'll talk about forever. Lunch at the clubhouse, an afternoon by the infinity pool, dinner at the lodge.
Bay of Islands
144 Islands & the Hole in the Rock
A private skippered cruise through the Bay of Islands — past Cape Brett Lighthouse, through Cathedral Cave, and conditions permitting, the boat threads the famous Hole in the Rock at Motukōkako Island. An island stop at Otehei Bay for lunch, often with bottlenose dolphins running alongside the bow. Optional afternoon visit to Russell — New Zealand's first European settlement.
Northland to Hawke's Bay
South to the Wine Country
A relaxed lodge breakfast, then a private transfer to Kerikeri Airport for your Air New Zealand flight via Auckland to Napier (Hawke's Bay). Rosewood's driver meets you airside for the scenic transfer over the rolling farmland to Cape Kidnappers. Settle into your Ridge Suite as the sun moves across the valley. Welcome to the second lodge.
Round Two · Cape Kidnappers
Tom Doak's Modern Marvel
A short cart ride from your suite to the first tee of one of golf's great modern masterpieces — Tom Doak's par-71 Cape Kidnappers, currently ranked World Top 100. The front nine plays inland through ridges and ravines; the back nine emerges onto the cliffs, where the par-5 15th — "Pirate's Plank" — stretches out toward the Pacific along a finger of land you'll remember always.
Hawke's Bay
Gannets, Gravels & Art Deco
A morning Cape Sanctuary tour through the lodge's predator-fenced wildlife sanctuary — kiwi, tūī, weta and the world's largest mainland gannet colony. Lunch at Craggy Range below Te Mata Peak. An afternoon tasting through Gimblett Gravels — Bordeaux varietals from one of the most distinctive terroirs in the southern hemisphere. Optional walk along Napier's Art Deco waterfront before a final dinner at the lodge.
Departure · Napier Airport
A Slow Goodbye
A leisurely breakfast at the lodge, time on the terrace, and a private transfer to Hawke's Bay (Napier) Airport for your Air New Zealand flight to Auckland and onward connection home.
