Curated Luxury · Exceptional Destinations

The full sweep of Kenya,
in three perfect acts

Kenya is the country that defined the safari — and the country that quietly invented the modern luxury bush camp. This Mosaic Journey is structured around its three defining landscapes: the Kilimanjaro-framed elephant herds of Amboseli, the Great Migration plains of the Maasai Mara, and the white-sand Indian Ocean coast at Diani. Two iconic Angama properties anchor the safari half. One private clifftop villa estate closes the journey on the coast. And a single Nairobi interlude — at the boutique Hemingways in Karen — bridges the bush and the beach with a round of golf at one of the country's most storied clubs.

Eight nights under canvas and on private villa terraces. Eleven days. Three private domestic flights between regions. Game drives at dawn and dusk, sundowners on the Oloololo Escarpment, the morning fly-in past the snow line of Kilimanjaro, dhow sailing on the Indian Ocean, and a private chef preparing every meal at your villa for the final four nights.

  • Two nights at Angama Amboseli — the new sister to Angama Mara, with Kilimanjaro views from every suite
  • Three nights at Angama Mara — the iconic cliff-edge tented camp, Travel + Leisure World's Best
  • One night at Hemingways Nairobi — Relais & Châteaux, in the Karen suburb
  • Four nights at Alfajiri Villas Diani — three-villa private estate, all-inclusive with private chef
  • Hot air balloon over the Mara at sunrise (optional, included)
  • A Maasai village visit with the family Angama has worked with for over a decade
  • A round of golf at Karen Country Club or Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi
  • Dhow sailing and snorkelling on the Indian Ocean coast
Angama Mara — cliff-edge tented suite overlooking the Maasai Mara

Mountain. Plain.
Indian Ocean.

Few countries on earth let you stand beneath Kilimanjaro at dawn, watch the Great Migration at noon, and toast the sunset from an Indian Ocean villa terrace — all within ten days. Kenya is one of them. This journey is built to honour each of its three defining landscapes at the pace each deserves.

The Great Migration — wildebeest in the Maasai Mara

The Great Migration,
at the cliff's edge

Every year, roughly 1.5 million wildebeest and 400,000 zebra cross the Maasai Mara as part of the longest overland animal migration on earth — a circuit between the Serengeti and the Mara that has been moving in the same rhythm for hundreds of thousands of years. The Mara crossings of the Mara River, July through October, are the most dramatic single wildlife spectacle on the continent.

Angama Mara sits on the Oloololo Escarpment at 1,000 feet above the Mara Triangle — the most strategic vantage in the entire reserve, with the herds visible from every tent and the river crossings reachable within an hour by Land Cruiser. The lodge holds a long-standing partnership with the Maasai community on the escarpment, and the team's game-driving expertise — born from years on these specific plains — turns the Mara from a spectacle into a story.

A note on timing

The Migration is in the Mara from roughly July through October. Outside those months, the reserve still holds extraordinary year-round populations of lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and the full plains ecosystem — the Mara is simply at its most photographed during Migration season.

Your Detailed Mosaic

Eleven days, four iconic addresses, three private domestic flights, and the full sweep of Kenya at the pace each landscape deserves.

Act One  ·  Amboseli
Day01

Arrival · Nairobi to Amboseli

Arrive Nairobi · Fly to Amboseli · Angama Amboseli

Touch down at Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO). Mosaico's airside concierge meets you in arrivals and walks you through to the Wilson Airport domestic transfer (the Nairobi airstrip for safari aircraft). A light Cessna Caravan lifts off for the 45-minute flight south to Amboseli, with Kilimanjaro materialising through the cabin window as you descend. Angama Amboseli vehicles meet you at the airstrip. The lodge — opened in 2023 as the sister property to Angama Mara — sits in a private 5,700-acre concession on the Kimana Sanctuary, with ten tented suites all framed directly toward Kilimanjaro. Settle in. Afternoon game drive, sundowners on the plain, dinner at the boma under the stars.

Day02

Amboseli · Beneath Kilimanjaro

Dawn Game Drive · Elephant Country

Sunrise game drive — Amboseli's swampy plains hold what may be the most studied elephant population on earth (the Amboseli Trust for Elephants has monitored individual family groups here since 1972), and the dawn light against Kilimanjaro is the photograph every visitor comes for. Breakfast in the bush. Return to the lodge for a long lunch, an hour at the pool, perhaps a visit to the Maasai community Angama works with. Afternoon game drive with sundowners on a quiet ridge, watching the herds move toward the swamps as the mountain catches the last light.

Act Two  ·  The Maasai Mara
Day03

Amboseli to Maasai Mara

Fly to the Mara · Angama Mara · Afternoon Game Drive

Morning at the lodge, then transfer back to the airstrip for the 90-minute charter flight northwest to the Maasai Mara. The aerial approach to Angama Mara is one of the most spectacular in African aviation — the Oloololo Escarpment falling sheer to the Mara plains as you bank in to the lodge airstrip. Settle in to a tented suite — each on the escarpment edge, each with a 180-degree view of the Mara Triangle, each with the kind of bath that has windows you'll never want to close. Afternoon game drive into the Mara Triangle, with the day's first lion, elephant, and resident hippo pod on the river. Sundowner cocktails on a kopje at golden hour.

Day04

Maasai Mara · The Plains

Hot Air Balloon Sunrise · Full Day Safari

A 4:30 AM coffee tray at the tent, and a Land Cruiser to the balloon launch site on the plains. Lift-off at first light — an hour of dawn silence drifting over the Mara as the herds wake beneath you and the sunrise unrolls across the Serengeti to the south. Champagne breakfast in the bush at landing. Return to Angama by mid-morning for a long rest. Afternoon game drive with the Angama guides, who know the resident prides and individual cheetahs by name. Dinner at the lodge with the entire Mara plain laid out in moonlight beneath the deck.

Day05

Maasai Mara · The People

Maasai Village Visit · Escarpment Sundowner

Morning visit to the Maasai community Angama has partnered with for over a decade — the village leader hosts the conversation personally, and what follows is the dignified version of this experience (not the staged version most travellers encounter). A walk through the manyatta, a discussion of contemporary Maasai life across the school and savings programmes Angama supports, lunch at the lodge. Afternoon game drive — by Day 5 the team will have built the day around whichever cats or herds you've most wanted more time with. Sundowner on the highest point of the escarpment with the Mara plains turning copper for a thousand miles in three directions.

Day06

Mara to Nairobi · Karen Country Club

Fly to Nairobi · Hemingways · A Round of Golf

Morning flight from the Mara airstrip back to Wilson Airport (~1hr 15 min). Transfer to Hemingways Nairobi — the Relais & Châteaux boutique property in the leafy Karen suburb south of the city, named for the writer who hunted these hills in the 1930s. Settle in. Lunch at the property, then a short transfer to Karen Country Club (founded 1937, set in the hills of the Karen suburb with the Ngong Hills as backdrop) or Muthaiga Golf Club (founded 1913, the more historic and traditionally exclusive of the two) for an afternoon eighteen. Dinner at Hemingways — the dining room here is among Kenya's most refined, in a colonial-era setting that links the safari chapter to the coastal one.

Act Three  ·  Diani Beach
Day07

Nairobi to Diani Beach

Fly to Ukunda · Alfajiri Villas · First Sunset

Morning flight Wilson Airport to Ukunda airstrip on the south coast (~1hr 15 min). Transfer to Alfajiri Villas Diani — a private three-villa estate sitting on the clifftop above the Indian Ocean, run as an all-inclusive family-hosted retreat by the Bertarelli family since 2000. Choose between the Garden Villa, the Beach Villa, or the Cliff Villa — each entirely private, each with its own pool, butler, and the resident Italian chef who plans every meal of your stay around your preferences. Lunch at the villa. Afternoon on the white sand below the property, with the first toes-in-water decompression of the trip. Sunset cocktails on your private terrace as the Indian Ocean turns the colour of polished copper.

Day08

Diani Beach · The Coast

Beach Day · Dhow Sailing & Snorkelling

A slow start. Breakfast on your villa terrace at whatever hour suits. Mid-morning, a private traditional dhow sailing excursion from the beach below the property — east toward the coral reef, where the boat anchors for snorkelling in the warm Indian Ocean. The reef here is part of the Diani-Chale Marine Reserve, with parrotfish, butterflyfish, and the occasional spotted eagle ray. Lunch back at the villa prepared by your chef. Afternoon at leisure — the spa pavilion, the clifftop pool, a long book under the makuti palms. Dinner on the candlelit terrace.

Day09

Diani Beach · The Slow Day

Spa & Leisure

The unstructured day. Optional activities — kitesurfing lessons (Diani is one of East Africa's premier kite spots), deep-sea fishing for marlin and sailfish, a visit to the Colobus Conservation centre 10 minutes inland (the rare Angolan black-and-white colobus monkey is endemic to this coast), or simply nothing at all. The Alfajiri spa runs full-day rituals on the cliff terrace. Your chef will prepare a long Italian-Swahili lunch at whichever pace you set. Sunset cocktails on the clifftop, dinner on the beach if conditions allow.

Diani Beach · The Final Day

Beach Day · Farewell Dinner

The final full day. Optional sunrise yoga on the cliff terrace. A leisurely brunch. Afternoon at the beach or pool, with one final session of whichever rhythm has worked best for you. The Farewell Dinner is the Alfajiri signature: a private candlelit table set on the beach, the chef preparing a five-course tasting menu of Swahili coastal cuisine with Italian technique, the Indian Ocean a few metres away, the stars overhead.
