Two Tuscanies, woven
into seven days
This is Tuscany at its slowest and most quietly extraordinary. Three nights cradled in the UNESCO-protected Val d'Orcia at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco — a 5,000-acre medieval estate rated the finest hotel in Continental Europe's Top 100 Golf Resorts ranking — followed by three nights on the wild Maremma coast at Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort, set on the dramatic promontory of Monte Argentario above the Orbetello lagoon.
Two rounds of world-class golf are woven through. The Tom Weiskopf-designed course at Castiglion del Bosco is Italy's only private golf club and the late champion's only continental European design. Argentario is Italy's only PGA National facility and the host venue of the 2025 Italian Open. In between: the Brunello di Montalcino winery on the Castiglion del Bosco estate, and a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the Val d'Orcia — the single most photographed agricultural landscape in Europe.
- 3 nights at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco · Val d'Orcia
- 3 nights at Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort · Maremma coast
- Round 1 — The Club at Castiglion del Bosco · Tom Weiskopf, Italy's only private course
- Round 2 — Argentario Golf Club · PGA National Italy & 2025 Italian Open host
- Brunello di Montalcino vineyard tour & tasting at Castiglion del Bosco
- Private sunrise hot-air balloon over the Val d'Orcia
- Private transfers throughout · Florence FLR arrival, Rome FCO departure
Slow time, cypress
roads & the long lunch
Tuscany rewards stillness. This is not a country to be raced through — and the route below is built to honour that. Two long stays. Two rounds of unhurried golf at the only courses in Tuscany that genuinely warrant the journey. A sunrise above the valley that inspired Renaissance painters. A wine that exists nowhere else on earth, tasted in the cellar where it is born. And in between — pici with truffle, a glass of Brunello at golden hour, and a great deal of doing nothing in particular.
Your Detailed Mosaic
Seven days from Florence to Rome — Val d'Orcia first, the Maremma coast second, with golf, wine, and one unforgettable dawn in the middle.
Florence → Montalcino, Val d'Orcia
Arrival — Into the Tuscan Hills
Touch down at Florence Peretola Airport (FLR) where your Mosaico driver awaits with a private transfer south to Montalcino. The drive takes roughly two hours through the Chianti and into the rolling clay hills of the Val d'Orcia. You arrive at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco — a restored medieval borgo set on a 5,000-acre estate — in the late afternoon. The evening is yours: settle into your suite, take an aperitivo on the terrace as the sun sets over the vineyards, and dine at Osteria La Canonica, the trattoria-style restaurant tucked inside the borgo itself.
Montalcino, Val d'Orcia
Round 01 — The Club at Castiglion del Bosco
There is one course in Tuscany that genuinely warrants the journey, and it is on your doorstep. Tom Weiskopf's only continental European design — and Italy's only private golf club — winds through 360-degree panoramic views of the UNESCO-listed Val d'Orcia, with cypress-lined ridges, kettles shaped into the fairways, and a famous quartet of par 3s. The course is reserved exclusively for resident hotel guests and members. Lunch on the Guest Terrace afterwards. Long Tuscan afternoon at the spa, the infinity pool, or simply the sun.
Buonconvento → Castiglion del Bosco Winery
Sunrise Above the Valley · Brunello in the Cellar
An early start — your Mosaico driver collects you in the dark for the short transfer to the launch field at Buonconvento. As dawn breaks, your private hot-air balloon lifts silently over the Val d'Orcia, rising to 2,000 feet above the cypress alleys, the isolated farmhouses on their ridges, and the Renaissance silhouettes of Pienza and Montalcino. Champagne breakfast on landing. Return to the estate for a slow morning. In the afternoon, a private tour and tasting at the Castiglion del Bosco winery — one of the leading producers of Brunello di Montalcino, the great Sangiovese wine that exists nowhere else on earth — guided by the estate's sommelier through the cellar and across the 62 hectares of vineyards.
Val d'Orcia → Maremma Coast
South to the Sea — Pienza, Montalcino & the Maremma
A leisurely morning at Castiglion del Bosco, then a private transfer south to the Maremma coast — but not directly. Your driver routes you through Pienza, the perfect Renaissance town designed by Pope Pius II in the 1460s, where you'll stop for pecorino tasting and a walk along the panoramic terrace before lunch at a family-run trattoria in Montalcino. You arrive at Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort in the late afternoon — a 77-hectare eco-resort tucked into a valley above the Orbetello lagoon, with views across to the Tyrrhenian. Dinner at Dama Dama, the resort's gastronomic restaurant, with produce from the property's organic gardens.
Porto Ercole, Maremma
Round 02 — Argentario Golf Club
Italy's only PGA National facility and the host venue of the 2025 Italian Open on the DP World Tour. Designed by David Mezzacane with European Tour professional Baldovino Dassù and shaped by Brian Jorgensen, the course winds for 6,218 metres through ancient olive groves and Mediterranean macchia, with two holes commanding views over the lagoon and the open sea. The closing three holes are a serious test — particularly the long par-3 17th, water left, bunkers right. Long lunch on the Club House terrace afterwards, then the spa for the rest of the afternoon.
Monte Argentario, Maremma
The Maremma — Sea, Salt & Slowness
A day at the pace of the Maremma. Drive the 30 minutes down to Porto Ercole — the dignified fishing village where Caravaggio drew his last breath in 1610 — for an unhurried morning along the harbour and the seafood market. Lunch at one of the trattorias overlooking the marina. The afternoon is yours to spend at the Espace Wellness Center spa, on the beach at Feniglia, or sailing the Orbetello lagoon. The group reconvenes for a farewell dinner on the panoramic terrace of the Club House as the sun goes down behind Mediterranean pines.
Argentario → Rome FCO
Departure Day
A final breakfast on your terrace overlooking the course. Late check-out arranged. Your Mosaico driver collects you for the smooth 90-minute transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) for your onward flight. You leave with two extraordinary rounds played, the Val d'Orcia seen from above at dawn, the cellar where Brunello is made walked, and the quiet knowledge that you have experienced the two faces of Tuscany at the pace they were always meant to be experienced.
Two Courses. Two Tuscanies.
Tuscany has many golf courses but only a handful that genuinely warrant the journey. These are the two.
Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco
Val d'Orcia
An 800-year-old estate in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Val d'Orcia. Founded by Massimo and Chiara Ferragamo, restored over a decade, and now operated as a Rosewood — Castiglion del Bosco was previously named the No. 1 Hotel in the World by Travel + Leisure and earned a perfect 20/20 score for accommodation in Golf World's Top 100 European Resorts ranking, where the editor described it as the finest hotel in the entire list.
42 spacious suites are arranged around the medieval borgo and castle ruins, with exposed beams, antique furnishings, and terraces that look out across the rolling clay hills toward Montalcino. The estate also houses a Michelin-starred restaurant (Campo del Drago), the Brunello di Montalcino winery you will tour on Day 3, an organic kitchen garden, a cookery school, and a serene spa.

- Michelin-starred Campo del Drago
- Osteria La Canonica trattoria
- On-estate Brunello winery
- Two outdoor infinity pools

Sunrise Above the
Val d'Orcia — by balloon
The Val d'Orcia is the most photographed agricultural landscape in Italy, possibly in Europe. The cypress alleys rising from clay slopes, the isolated farmhouses on their ridges, the Renaissance silhouettes of Pienza and Montalcino — they have inspired painters since the fifteenth century and been reproduced on a thousand book covers since.
To see it from a hot-air balloon at first light is something else entirely. You launch from Buonconvento in the dark. The crew inflates the envelope with bursts of flame as the sky behind Monte Amiata begins to lighten. You lift silently to 2,000 feet, drift for an hour with the breeze, and watch the sun pull the shadows out of the valley below. Champagne breakfast on landing. Few experiences in luxury travel still deliver pure quiet awe — this is one of them.
Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort Maremma Coast
Marriott's Autograph Collection on Monte Argentario — the dramatic promontory connected to the Tuscan mainland by three causeways that form the Orbetello lagoon. 77 hectares of BioAgriCert-certified estate. No cars on property; only electric golf carts. Designer rooms and villas with private terraces overlooking either the championship course or the Mediterranean greenery toward the lagoon and the open sea beyond.
Two restaurants: the gastronomic Dama Dama, and the more informal Club House Restaurant on the course terrace, both sourcing from the resort's organic gardens. The Espace Wellness Center spans treatments, indoor and outdoor pools, gym, sauna and steam. Beyond the property: the fishing villages of Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano, the wild beaches of Feniglia and Giannella, and the islands of Giglio and Giannutri — all within a short drive or boat ride.

"Some places are so extraordinary they feel almost unreal. Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is one of them. Perched high on a Tuscan hill, it is an old village brought back to life — every stone restored with reverence."— Tripadvisor Traveller Review, 2025
