Where Atlantic links
reach their peak
The northwest of Ireland holds a higher concentration of world-class links than anywhere on earth. The Causeway Coast and County Donegal share Portrush, Portstewart, Castlerock, Ballyliffin and Rosapenna — five courses set across two countries, three peninsulas and one of Europe's most dramatic coastlines. Two of them — Royal Portrush Dunluce and Tom Doak's St Patrick's Links at Rosapenna — sit firmly inside the World Top 50.
Six nights at The Ebrington Hotel, Derry's award-winning new luxury address — the AA Northern Ireland Hotel of the Year, set in a landmark 1842 building on the east bank of the Foyle, with the historic Walled City a footbridge away. From here, every great Causeway Coast and Donegal links is within a comfortable hour or so of the breakfast table.
- Royal Portrush Dunluce — host of The Open 2019 & 2025
- Rosapenna St Patrick's Links — Tom Doak, World #44
- Portstewart Strand & Castlerock Mussenden — Causeway Coast classics
- Ballyliffin Glashedy Links — Pat Ruddy, host of 2018 Irish Open
- Causeway Coast cultural day — Giant's Causeway & Bushmills Distillery
- The Ebrington Hotel, Derry — 4★ AA Hotel of the Year 2024/25
Two countries, two peninsulas,
one extraordinary coast
From Derry, the Causeway Coast unfolds eastward into County Antrim — Castlerock, Portstewart and Royal Portrush within thirty-five minutes of each other along the same stretch of dunes. Westward across the Foyle, County Donegal opens into the Inishowen Peninsula and Sheephaven Bay, where Ballyliffin and Rosapenna anchor what's now widely regarded as Ireland's most exciting region for new and reimagined links golf. Five rounds, two countries, one coastal corridor that no other destination in the British Isles can match for quality per mile.
Your Detailed Mosaic
Seven days woven across the Causeway Coast and into Donegal — five championship links, the Giant's Causeway, and a private night at Bushmills.
Arrival · Derry
Welcome to the Walled City
Private transfers from Belfast or City of Derry Airport to The Ebrington Hotel, on the east bank of the Foyle in the regenerated former Ebrington Barracks — Derry's most prestigious new luxury address. Time to settle in, then a guided walk along the 17th-century city walls before a welcome dinner at the hotel's two-AA-Rosette Oakroom Restaurant.
Round One · Castlerock
Castlerock Golf Club (Mussenden)
Thirty minutes east of Derry — a perfect opening round under the silhouette of the clifftop Mussenden Temple. Living in the shadow of its famous Causeway neighbours, the Mussenden Links is every bit as good — extensively overhauled in 2017–18 and now in pristine championship condition. Lunch in the cliff-top clubhouse before the return drive to Derry.
Round Two · Portstewart
Portstewart Golf Club (Strand)
A short drive further along the coast. Portstewart Strand sits amidst some of the most imposing natural sand dunes in the British Isles, with panoramic views across the mouth of Lough Foyle to the Inishowen peninsula. Up to #17 in Ireland 2026 after recent European Golf Design work on holes 13–15. Host of the 2017 Irish Open. The opening tee shot, plunging from a clifftop stage, may be the single most thrilling first hole in Ireland.
Round Three · Royal Portrush
Royal Portrush — Dunluce Links
The headline round. Harry Colt's 1929 masterpiece, host of The Open Championship in 1951, 2019 and again in July 2025 — won by Shane Lowry in 2019, by Scottie Scheffler in 2025. The Dunluce occupies a triangle of giant sandhills with views of Inishowen, Islay and the Giant's Causeway. The new 7th and 8th holes (replacing the original 17th and 18th) were the most significant architectural change ever made for an Open. World Top 20.
Causeway Coast · Cultural Day
Giant's Causeway & Bushmills
A day off from golf to explore what surrounds it. Private guided morning at the Giant's Causeway — Northern Ireland's UNESCO World Heritage site of 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns — followed by lunch at the historic Bushmills Inn. Afternoon private tasting at the Old Bushmills Distillery, in operation since 1608 and the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. Brief stop at the romantic ruins of Dunluce Castle on the return to Derry.
Round Four · Inishowen
Ballyliffin Golf Club (Glashedy Links)
Cross the Foyle into Donegal and up the Inishowen Peninsula — Ireland's most northerly golf club, set off Tullagh Point against Pollan Strand and Glashedy Rock (Donegal's answer to Turnberry's Ailsa Craig). Pat Ruddy's 1995 design, host of the 2018 Irish Open won by Russell Knox. Nine brutal par-4s of 400+ yards. The elevated par-three 7th has the finest view on the property; the par-three 14th is one of the most photographed holes in Donegal.
Round Five · Sheephaven Bay · Departure
Rosapenna — St Patrick's Links
A finale that has reset the entire Irish ranking. Tom Doak's first 18-hole design in Ireland, opened June 2021, debuted at #55 on GOLF Magazine's World Top 100 and has now climbed to #44 — Doak's response to 300 acres of Donegal duneland above Sheephaven Bay. Doak himself believes it could rival Barnbougle Dunes as his finest expression. Lunch at Rosapenna, then private transfers back via Derry to your departure airport.
Five Rounds. Two Countries.
