Two bases, one coastline. Three nights on the Atlantic at Spanish Point in County Clare, with Lahinch fifteen minutes north and Doonbeg twenty minutes south. Then five nights inside Killarney National Park, on the shore of Lough Leane, with Kerry's greatest links spread out around you.
Between the two halves sits the best travel day in Irish golf. Rather than drive two hours inland around the Shannon estuary, you take the car ferry straight across it, and Ballybunion is waiting twenty five minutes off the far slip. You play it on the way south and arrive in Killarney for dinner.

This journey is hosted from start to finish by Will Robins, who travels with the group for all nine days. Will sets the tone of the week, arranges the daily play formats and games, hosts the welcome and farewell dinners, and makes sure everyone in the group knows each other by the end of the first evening.
A hosted journey is different from a trip you book alone. You arrive as individuals and you leave as a group. The golf is the reason, but the table at the end of each day is what people remember.
Will handles the week. Mosaico handles everything underneath it, from tee times and ferry timings to transfers and reservations.
One coastline,
three counties deep
The southwest of Ireland holds more world-ranked links per mile than anywhere outside of Scotland, and almost all of it sits on one road. From the dunes of west Clare, across the mouth of the Shannon, down through Kerry's peninsulas and around to the cliffs of west Cork, this is a single unbroken run of golfing coast. This journey takes it from the top and works south.
Old Head asks
more of you
Old Head of Kinsale is not a course you drop into. It sits on a 220-acre diamond of rock joined to County Cork by a strip of land barely wide enough for the road, with nine holes played along cliffs that fall 300 feet straight into the Atlantic. There is nothing else like it in golf.
Two honest things about the day. It is the longest drive of the week, roughly an hour and a half each way from Killarney, which means an early start and a late return. And of everything on this itinerary, Old Head is the most exposed to weather. A headland pushing two miles into the Atlantic collects fog and wind that the mainland never sees, and the club will close the course when it has to.
So we have built the week around that. Old Head is played on Day 7, not Day 8, and the final day in Killarney is deliberately left open. If the headland is closed on Day 7, we go back for it on Day 8. Most itineraries give you one attempt at Old Head. This one gives you two.
That open day is not a filler either. If the weather holds and Old Head goes ahead as planned, Day 8 is yours for the ESPA spa, the Ring of Kerry, the Gap of Dunloe, Dingle, or a round at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club five minutes from the hotel.
A long day, a real buffer behind it, and the most spectacular finishing round in Ireland at the end of the week rather than squeezed into the middle of it.

Welcome to the West
Private transfers from Shannon Airport, about an hour west, to the Armada at Spanish Point. The hotel sits directly above the beach with the Atlantic filling every window, and the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren are both a short drive north. A hosted welcome dinner with Will and the group at Aileens, then a first Irish whiskey in Johnny Burkes, the hotel's own pub.
Round One · Lahinch
Lahinch Golf Club, Old Course
Fifteen minutes north along the coast. Laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1892 and remodelled by Alister MacKenzie in 1927, Lahinch is the course the Irish call the St Andrews of Ireland, and the town exists because of it. Enormous dunes, blind shots that no modern architect would dare build, and the two holes everyone talks about afterwards: the Klondyke and the Dell. Host of the 2019 Irish Open. Lunch in the clubhouse above the 18th.
Round Two · Doonbeg
Doonbeg
Twenty minutes south to Doughmore Bay, where Greg Norman routed a course through a mile and a half of the highest dunes on the west coast, some of them over a hundred feet. It is the most modern links on this itinerary and the most sheltered from nothing at all. Play it in a breeze and you will remember it. A free afternoon back at Spanish Point, or the Cliffs of Moher twenty five minutes north for anyone who has not seen them.

Across the Shannon to Ballybunion, then Killarney
The best travel day in Irish golf. Luggage goes ahead, you go south to Killimer and drive straight onto the Shannon car ferry. Twenty minutes across the widest river mouth in Ireland, past the dolphins if you are lucky, and you land at Tarbert in County Kerry having skipped a two hour drive inland. Ballybunion is twenty five minutes from the slip. The Old Course runs out along the cliffs above the beach and it has been on every serious top ten list in the world for forty years. Afterwards, on to The Europe Hotel and Resort in Killarney for five nights.
Round Four · Tralee
Tralee Golf Links
Forty five minutes north west from Killarney out to Barrow. Arnold Palmer's first design in Europe, and he said it plainly: he may have designed the first nine, but the Almighty designed the back nine. The front runs along the beach where Ryan's Daughter was filmed, the back climbs into a range of dunes that feels like a different course entirely. The 12th, played across a chasm to a green on the cliff edge, is one of the great par fours anywhere.
Round Five · Waterville
Waterville Golf Links
An hour and a quarter out along the Ring of Kerry to the Iveragh Peninsula, and the drive alone is worth the morning. Waterville is where Payne Stewart was made honorary captain in 1999, and his statue still looks out over the links. Tom Kite, Mark O'Meara and Tiger Woods have all used it to prepare for Opens. The closing stretch from the 11th, Tranquility, through the Mass Hole at the 12th and out to the 17th on the dune ridge, is as good a finish as Ireland has.
Round Six · Old Head of Kinsale
Old Head Golf Links
The long day, and the one everybody photographs. An early departure east through Cork to the Old Head, a promontory reaching two miles into the Atlantic with a lighthouse on the point and nine holes played along the cliff edge. On a clear day you can see the curve of the coast in both directions and nothing else but water. Lunch at the clubhouse looking back down the headland before the drive home to Killarney.
Killarney · The Open Day
Kerry, On Your Own Terms
Held open on purpose. If Old Head was closed by weather on Day 7, today is the second attempt and we go back for it. If not, the day is yours: the 50,000 square foot ESPA at the hotel, the Gap of Dunloe by jaunting car, the Ring of Kerry, a run out to Dingle, or an optional round at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club, a former Irish Open host five minutes from the door. A hosted farewell dinner with Will and the group to close the week.

Killarney to Shannon
A final breakfast overlooking Lough Leane and the Reeks before private transfer to Shannon Airport, about an hour and three quarters, for onward flights. Kerry Airport at Farranfore is twenty minutes away for anyone connecting through Dublin. Your concierge handles luggage, check-out and the morning. It is yours.

Every course on this itinerary is a genuine world top hundred links, and four of them sit inside the world top fifty. There is no filler round in this week.

The Armada
The Armada sits directly above Spanish Point beach with the Atlantic filling the view, 87 bedrooms and ocean view suites, and a location that puts Lahinch fifteen minutes north and Doonbeg twenty minutes south. Three places to eat and drink under one roof: Aileens for dinner, the Ocean Bar for the view, and Johnny Burkes, a proper West Clare pub with a locals' snug, for everything after. The Cliffs of Moher and the Burren are both a short run up the coast.

The Europe stands on the shore of Lough Leane inside Killarney National Park, looking across the water to MacGillycuddy's Reeks, five minutes from Killarney town. 180 rooms and suites, most with balconies over the lake and the mountains, and ESPA at The Europe, a 50,000 square foot spa with a saltwater pool that is the finest in Ireland. The Weather Reserve Day
Day 8 is held open for a second attempt at Old Head should the headland close on Day 7. If Old Head plays as scheduled, the day is yours for the ESPA spa, the Ring of Kerry, Dingle, or an optional round at Killarney.
Private Transfers & the Crossing
Private air-conditioned transfers from Shannon Airport, daily transfers to every course, the Shannon car ferry crossing from Killimer to Tarbert on Day 4 with luggage handled separately, and the return to Shannon on departure.
