Six days inside the
greatest week in links golf

For the eleventh time in its history, Royal Birkdale plays host to The Open Championship — and the world's finest links golfers descend on Merseyside's "Golf Coast." Your group already has tickets for Thursday's opening round; Mosaico builds the rest of the week around it.

From a single base in central Liverpool you are forty minutes from Birkdale's towering dunes, twenty-five minutes from Hoylake's championship links, and a short drive from Formby's pine-fringed fairways. Two private rounds at two of England's finest courses — book-ended by the spectacle of The Open itself — and the city of Liverpool waiting at the end of every day.

  • One day at The 154th Open Championship, Royal Birkdale
  • Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) — England's second-oldest links and 13× Open host
  • Formby Golf Club — pine-bordered heathland links, Merseyside #3
  • Five nights at Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool's original boutique address
  • Private chauffeured transfers to every course and to Royal Birkdale daily
  • A Saturday devoted to Liverpool's UNESCO waterfront, Beatles heritage and Anfield
Formby Golf Club — Merseyside links course

Three Royals, three
Open Championships, one shoreline

The forty-mile sweep of dune and links from the Wirral to Lytham is unrivalled in England. Royal Liverpool, Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham & St Annes — three of the ten clubs in the Open rota — sit within an hour of one another, with Hillside, Southport & Ainsdale, Formby and West Lancashire filling the gaps. Liverpool, thirty minutes inland, is the natural base.

Your Open Championship Week

Six days choreographed around the Thursday at Royal Birkdale, with two private rounds and a full day to discover the city of Liverpool itself.

Liverpool City Centre

Arrival — Welcome to Liverpool

Touch down at Liverpool John Lennon (or Manchester) where your Mosaico chauffeur awaits with a private transfer to Hope Street Hotel in the city's Georgian Quarter. Your suite is ready, the Anglican Cathedral towers at one end of the street, the Metropolitan Cathedral at the other. The afternoon is yours to settle in, walk the cobbles, and ease into the time zone. The group gathers at The London Carriage Works — the hotel's two-AA-Rosette restaurant — for a welcome dinner of modern British cooking and a first toast to the week ahead.

Round One — The 154th Open Championship

Private chauffeured transfer to Royal Birkdale for the opening round of The 154th Open. Your group has the entire Championship day to explore Birkdale's towering dunes, follow the marquee groups, and watch the world's finest test themselves on a links many professionals consider the fairest of the rota. The art-deco clubhouse — that famous "ocean liner sailing through the sand" — overlooks the 18th green. We collect you at day's end and return to Liverpool in time for an early dinner.

Hoylake, Wirral Peninsula

Royal Liverpool Golf Club — Hoylake

Twenty-five minutes south of Liverpool, "Hoylake" is the second-oldest seaside links in England and has hosted The Open Championship thirteen times — including Tiger Woods' 2006 masterclass, Rory McIlroy in 2014, and Brian Harman in 2023. Only six holes nestle in true dune country; the rest is laid bare to the ever-shifting Hoylake wind. A traditional, honest test of links golf, with the iconic out-of-bounds cop along the 1st (Course) hole still defining your opening tee shot. Lunch in the famously hospitable members' clubhouse before returning to the city.

Liverpool — UNESCO Waterfront & Cultural Quarter

A Day for the City

A morning to set the clubs aside. Begin with a private guided walk of Liverpool's UNESCO-listed Pier Head — the Three Graces, the Royal Albert Dock, and the Mersey skyline that defined the British Empire's second port. Lunch waterside at the Albert Dock, then either a private tour of Anfield with stadium-and-museum access for the football devotees, or the Beatles Story and Cavern Quarter for those drawn to Mathew Street. The evening is unhurried — a classic dinner in the Georgian Quarter, a nightcap at the Philharmonic Dining Rooms across the road from the hotel.

Formby, Merseyside

Formby Golf Club — The Final Round

Half an hour up the coast, Formby is something altogether different. A 470-acre Site of Special Scientific Interest where Scots pine, gorse and silver birch ring the dune corridors — Willie Park Jr. laid out the original course in 1884, and James Braid, Harry Colt and Donald Steel each added their hand. Hosted the Curtis Cup in 2004 and the Amateur in 1984 and 2009. The members are unfailingly welcoming; the routing winds inland through the pines and out toward the Irish Sea. A late lunch in the clubhouse before returning to Liverpool for a final group dinner at The London Carriage Works.

Hope Street Hotel — lobby and lounge

Hope Street Hotel —
Liverpool's original boutique address

On Hope Street between the city's two cathedrals — Anglican to the south, Metropolitan to the north — sits a Venetian-palazzo building from 1860, formerly the London Carriage Works coachmaker for Rolls Royce. Since 2003 it has been Liverpool's first and finest boutique hotel: independently owned, four-star with five-star touches, 149 rooms across studios, lounge suites and rooftop suites with private terraces.

Cheshire brick, iron pillars, pitch-pine beams; bespoke cherry, oak and walnut furnishing throughout. The London Carriage Works — the only Liverpool hotel restaurant to hold two AA Rosettes — anchors the dining; 1931 handles bright modern breakfasts and informal evenings. The award-winning spa was named UK Best City Spa by the Good Spa Guide.
