Golf's most hallowed
stretch of heathland
The Sandbelt is a geological gift — ancient coastal dunes, now inland, covered in native heathland and banksia scrub. The sandy, free-draining soil produces firm, fast turf that rewards creativity and punishes the careless. Alister MacKenzie worked his genius here in 1926, and the Sandbelt has never looked back. Within a 20km corridor south of Melbourne's CBD lie more top-100 courses than almost anywhere else in the world.
Your Detailed Mosaic
Eight days curated to balance extraordinary golf with the full Melbourne Mosaic Journey.
Melbourne CBD, Victoria
Arrival — Welcome to Melbourne
Touch down at Melbourne International Airport where your Mosaico concierge awaits with a private transfer to the Park Hyatt Melbourne. Positioned in the heart of the city, you are steps from the Yarra River, Flinders Street Station, and the celebrated dining laneways that have made Melbourne one of the world's great culinary destinations. The afternoon is yours — explore the CBD, browse the Royal Arcade, or simply settle in. This evening the group gathers for a welcome dinner at a celebrated Melbourne restaurant.
Black Rock, Sandbelt
Royal Melbourne West Course
There is no finer opening act in golf. Royal Melbourne West — the course Alister MacKenzie designed in 1926 — consistently ranks among the top five courses in the world. The routing is a revelation: each hole feels naturally placed, the bunkering inspired, the greens among the fastest and most complex you will encounter anywhere. The sandy heathland setting is strikingly beautiful, the native scrub golden in the Australian sun.
Black Rock, Sandbelt
Royal Melbourne East Course
The East Course at Royal Melbourne — less celebrated than the West but equally fascinating — was designed by Mike Morcom and refined to perfection over decades. It is a different kind of challenge: wider corridors open up more options, the fairways play firmer and faster. Together, the East and West form the Composite course used for major championships.
Cheltenham, Sandbelt
Kingston Heath Golf Club
Kingston Heath is many golfers' favourite course in Australia. Designed by Devereux Emmet and refined by Alister MacKenzie, the course occupies a long, narrow strip of heathland where natural contours have been exploited with extraordinary skill. The bunkering is artful and strategic; the greens complex and fast. Ranked consistently in the world's Top 50.
Cheltenham, Sandbelt
Victoria Golf Club
Founded in 1903 and relocated to its current Cheltenham home in 1927, Victoria Golf Club represents the Sandbelt in its most elegant and unhurried form. A beautifully balanced design with sweeping fairways that demand considered shot selection and greens that reward patience over power. The group gathers for a signature long lunch with Victoria's finest wines selected by a specialist sommelier.
Oakleigh, Sandbelt
Yarra Yarra Golf Club
Yarra Yarra is the Sandbelt's finest kept secret. Designed by Claude Crockford in the 1920s, it occupies a compact but brilliantly varied piece of heathland where strategic options are seemingly endless. The greens are small, contoured and firm; the bunkering placed to create genuine dilemmas from the tee. After the round, the group explores Melbourne's iconic Brighton Beach before a celebratory penultimate dinner.
Frankston South, Mornington Peninsula
Peninsula Kingswood South Course
The final round takes the group 50km south of Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula, where Peninsula Kingswood sits amid rolling coastal terrain. The South Course is the showpiece — a modern design weaving through stands of native ti-tree and banksia, with generous fairways and well-guarded greens. A spectacular contrast to the Sandbelt. The group gathers for a farewell dinner at a Peninsula winery that evening.

Every Round, World-Class
Day 2 · World Top 5
Royal Melbourne West
Alister MacKenzie's 1926 masterpiece. Consistently rated Australia's greatest course and one of the top five in the world. Sublime bunkering, lightning-fast greens, native heathland at its finest.
Day 3 · Championship Course
Royal Melbourne East
Mike Morcom's companion to the West — broader and more open, but equally demanding. Together they form the Composite course used for the Presidents Cup and major championships.
Day 4 · World Top 50
Kingston Heath
Many golfers' favourite in Australia. MacKenzie's bunkering genius applied to a narrow heathland canvas produces holes of extraordinary strategy and beauty. Firm, fast, and utterly compelling.
Day 5 · Est. 1903
Victoria Golf Club
A century of tradition and an elegant Sandbelt design that rewards careful thinking over raw power. Sweeping fairways, considered bunkering, and a clubhouse atmosphere steeped in Australian golf history.
Day 6 · The Sandbelt's Secret
Yarra Yarra
Claude Crockford's compact masterpiece — the Sandbelt insider's favourite. Small contoured greens and brilliantly placed bunkers create a course where every hole demands a decision.

The coastal finale. Set among ti-tree and banksia on the Mornington Peninsula with views across the Bay — broader, bolder, and breathtaking in scale.
